Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Saturday |
Where to drop off old pills around Doylestown |

If your medicine cabinet is full of half-finished prescriptions and expired pills, Saturday is a good day to clear it out.
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at drop-off sites all over Bucks County.
It's free, and you can drive up or walk in.
The day is organized by the Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission, working with local police departments and community groups.
You can bring prescription medications, over-the-counter medicines and vitamins.
Pet medications are welcome too, and so are vaping devices.
Some sites also accept sharps and needles, and select locations will hand out free Narcan.
In Doylestown, you can drop off at Borough Hall, 10 Doyle St.
Penn Medicine Doylestown Health, at 595 W. State St., takes medications and sharps.
So does the Bucks County Park Police headquarters on Swamp Road.
There's also a drop-off at the GIANT on South Easton Road.
In Buckingham, head to the Midway Fire Company, Station 15, at 3879 Durham Rd., or the township building at 4613 Hughesian Dr.
In Plumstead, the CVS at 4361 Swamp Rd. is a drop-off site.
In New Britain Township, the police department at 207 Park Ave. in Chalfont and the GIANT at 4275 County Line Rd. both accept sharps as well as medications.
In Warrington, the township building at 2330 Lower Barness Rd. takes sharps, and Wegmans on Main Street is also a drop-off site.
In Warwick, the Wawa at 1937 York Rd. in Jamison accepts both medications and sharps.
So why bother?
Old medicine sitting in a drawer can end up in the wrong hands, and a take back site is a better choice than flushing it or tossing it in the trash.
Take back day makes doing the right thing easy.
Before you go, gather everything into one bag so it's a quick stop.
While you're cleaning out the medicine cabinet, it's worth checking the garage too.
The county's household hazardous waste collection is the same Saturday morning in Quakertown, and it's the last one of the year.
One quick stop on Saturday, and your medicine cabinet is a lot lighter. |
