Doylestown Families, This Is the Scarecrow Weekend You Don’t Want to Miss |
Enjoy fall festivals and fun family activities this season |

Peddler's Village is gearing up for a weekend packed with excitement as scarecrows and autumnal fun take over the quaint pathways.
For Doylestown families craving that true fall feeling, this is the signature weekend of the season.
The ever-popular Scarecrow Festival transforms the village into a vibrant playground, drawing folks of all ages with colorful displays, hands-on crafts, and live performances.
Each year, “Scarecrows in the Village” fills the scenic streets with more than 150 uniquely crafted scarecrows, designed by local residents, schools, and community groups.
This year’s entries include not just traditional scarecrow styles, but also clever homages to pop culture, famous figures, and Bucks County icons—giving visitors endless options for favorites.
Voting for the standout creations is open throughout the event, encouraging everyone to weigh in on Doylestown’s most creative minds.
The festival encourages hands-on participation, especially through its sought-after scarecrow-making workshops.
Kids and parents alike can dive into straw, old clothes, and decorations to build a scarecrow, with plenty of guidance from the helpful festival staff.
The thrill of taking home a homemade scarecrow is just the start—families can also try their hand at pumpkin painting, sand art, and a wide variety of lawn games.
This year, attractions like a bounce zone, gem mining adventure, and competitive axe throwing promise to keep every age group engaged.
Sunday’s schedule brings even more delight with a petting zoo inviting little ones to meet furry friends up close from noon until afternoon.
Free admission and parking remove all barriers, turning this into one of the most inclusive family activities Doylestown PA has to offer.
Live music pulses through the village each day, with regional bands and juggling acts fueling the carnival-like energy.
Recent updates to the village green have expanded the festival footprint, creating more space for dining, crafts, and gathering.
In step with Doylestown’s growing foodie scene, new pop-up vendors are joining old favorites, featuring sweet treats, savory bites, and festive drinks from local food trucks and bakeries.
With the scarecrow displays remaining until late October, those who can’t make it this weekend can still enjoy the artwork on leisurely strolls through Peddler’s Village.
But nothing compares to the energy of festival weekend—when laughter, music, and creativity fill every corner, reminding us why fall festivals Doylestown PA consistently draw crowds year after year.
Whether you come for the crafts, the food, or just the chance to soak up autumn’s magic, “Scarecrow Weekend” at Peddler’s Village has cemented its place as a must-do for local families. |

My tip is go Sunday morning right when it opens. Way less crowded and you can actually enjoy the scarecrow displays without bumping into everyone.
The regional bands they book are actually pretty good. Sat on the green for an hour just listening last time.
I just hope the weather cooperates this weekend. Last year it drizzled the whole time and it was still fun but still.
Worth the drive from New Hope for sure. We make a whole day of it.
My wife wants to do the scarecrow workshop this year. I'm just here for the food trucks and live music if I'm being honest.
The pumpkin painting is underrated. My son spent 45 minutes on his and was so proud. Highly recommend.
Went once on festival weekend and then went back the following week just to walk through quietly. Two completely different vibes, both good.
We made a day of it last year, lunch at one of the restaurants in the village then the whole festival. Perfect fall Saturday honestly.
Rachel V.Which restaurant did you end up at? We always struggle to pick one when we're there. So many options and we end up just walking in circles.
My school group entered a scarecrow last year. We did not win but it was so fun to make and see it on display all month.
Axe throwing next to a petting zoo is a sentence I never thought I'd read but okay Peddler's Village, you do you
The Bucks County themed scarecrows are always my favorites. Curious what local icons they picked this time around.
Really glad they kept the free admission. Some of these fall festivals nearby have started charging a lot and it just changes the whole feel.
I moved to Doylestown three years ago and this was the first local event I went to. Made me feel like I actually belonged here.
The juggling acts sound a little random but my nephew loved it last time so I'll take it.
150 scarecrows is no joke. We spent almost two hours just walking around and voting last year.
Sam G.Two hours sounds about right! We lost track of time completely last year. My husband kept going back to change his vote too, which didn't help.
Two hours sounds about right when you're weighing more than 150 uniquely crafted scarecrows, the voting just adds another layer of fun to the whole stroll!
The bounce zone is gonna be a nightmare of a crowd. We learned to hit that first thing in the morning before the lines get crazy.
I moved to Doylestown two years ago and this was the first local event I ever went to. It made me feel like I actually belonged here. Can't wait to go again.
The voting for favorite scarecrows is such a fun touch. Makes you actually stop and look at all of them instead of just walking by.
This is genuinely one of the best free things to do in the whole county in the fall. Not exaggerating.
Live juggling acts sounds random but my kids absolutely lose their minds for that kind of stuff so we'll be there
Anyone know if dogs are allowed? We always want to bring ours but never sure about the policy.
Glad they expanded the village green area. It used to get really crowded around the craft tables.
The food trucks have gotten so much better over the past few years. Last time I had a cider donut that I still think about.
Hoping the food lineup includes something savory this time. Last year felt like mostly sweet stuff which was great but I needed a real meal after all that walking.
Gem mining is a huge hit with my 7 year old. She thinks every rock is a diamond.
Took my grandkids two years ago and they still talk about the petting zoo. Planning to go Sunday for that again.
Sand art is back? My son was obsessed with that last year. We ended up with like four bottles of it.
Sand art is indeed part of the lineup alongside pumpkin painting and lawn games, sounds like your son may need an extra bag to carry home this year's haul!
The pop culture scarecrows are always my favorite part. Curious what they did this year.
150 scarecrows is no joke. Takes a while to get through them all. Wear comfy shoes.
We went last October just for a quiet walk to see the scarecrows after the festival weekend. Really nice way to spend an afternoon.
Axe throwing at a fall festival is not something I expected to read today but honestly I am here for it
My daughter voted for the same scarecrow three times last year. Not sure if that's allowed but nobody stopped her haha
The scarecrow workshops fill up so fast. Get there early if you want a spot, seriously.
Free parking AND free admission? That alone makes it worth going. Everything costs money these days.
I look forward to this every single year. My kids are grown now and I still drag them out here lol
I went on a Tuesday after the festival weekend one year just to walk through and see the displays. Still lovely but yeah the weekend energy is something else.
You put it perfectly, the displays do linger through late October for leisurely strolls, but that weekend energy of live music, laughter, and creativity really is something that's hard to replicate on a quiet Tuesday!
Nice to see local schools getting involved with the scarecrow designs. Beats any store bought decoration by a mile.
Phil MarconeAgreed. My nephew's class did one a few years back and I swear it was the most creative thing in the whole village. Kids come up with stuff adults would never think of.
The live music really does make the whole atmosphere. Last year there was a bluegrass band that had everyone dancing on the path.
We did the pumpkin painting last time and honestly the adults had just as much fun as the kids. Highly recommend.
BucksCountyDadSame here, I got way too competitive about mine turning out perfect. My kids were already done and running off while I was still fussing with the details.
My daughter's school did a scarecrow entry two years ago. She still has the photo on her wall. Such a fun community thing.
That's exactly the community spirit that makes this festival so special, local schools are among the groups that design those iconic displays each year, creating memories that clearly last well beyond October!
Nancy HollisThat is so sweet. Those group projects stick with kids way longer than you'd expect. My son still talks about the float his class built for a parade years ago.
Gem mining adventure sounds cool for the kids but axe throwing next to a bounce zone seems like an interesting combo ha
Good to hear they expanded the village green area. It used to get really cramped near the craft tables on busy afternoons.
SuzannePHLYeah it was tough to maneuver a stroller through there on a Saturday. Glad they finally did something about it. Made the whole afternoon more relaxed.
The food trucks have gotten so much better over the years. Last year there was a cider donut place that I still think about.
The food scene at the village keeps growing, this year new pop-up vendors are joining the returning favorites, so fingers crossed your cider donut crew makes a comeback!
Went a few years back on a Sunday and the petting zoo had my little ones absolutely glued for an hour. So sweet.
The pop culture scarecrows are always the best part. Wondering what they went with this year.
mike_d87Right? Last year there was one that had me laughing for like five minutes straight. I don't want to spoil it but keep an eye out near the main path, they usually cluster the pop culture ones together.
This year's entries include clever homages to pop culture, famous figures, and Bucks County icons, so there should be plenty of fresh surprises to discover and debate!
We drove down from Warminster last October and it was absolutely worth it. Those scarecrow displays are so creative.
So glad the drive from Warminster paid off, the creativity that local residents, schools, and community groups pour into those 150+ displays really does make every visit feel unique!
Linda FarrowWarminster is not far at all for how good this event is. We came up from Horsham and felt the same way. Definitely putting it on the calendar again this year.
Axe throwing at a fall festival, ok I did not see that coming lol
My kids are already asking if they can do the scarecrow making workshop again. It was their favorite part last year.
The scarecrow-making workshops are among the most sought-after parts of the weekend, so we'd say get there early, straw, old clothes, decorations, and plenty of helpful staff are all waiting!
Free parking AND free admission? That's practically unheard of these days. Bring the whole family.
We go every single year and it never gets old. The scarecrows alone are worth the trip!
