Jack-o-Lanterns Light Up Mercer's Tile Works |
A weekend festival on East Swamp Road, Oct. 24–25 |

There's a particular glow that only a field of carved pumpkins can make, and this weekend it settles over the Tile Works on East Swamp Road.
Pumpkinfest '26 returns to the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works on Saturday, Oct. 24, and Sunday, Oct. 25.
It's a fall tradition that feels right at home here, where Henry Mercer's concrete tile factory already looks like it was made for October.
On Saturday, the festival opens at 1 p.m. and the pumpkin carving gets underway.
Artists set up under the Tile Works arches and turn plain pumpkins into faces, scenes and the occasional small masterpiece.
You can wander, watch the work in progress, and see each pumpkin take shape over the afternoon.
Live music, food vendors and art vendors round out the day, so it's easy to make an afternoon of it.
The real payoff comes after dark, when the finished jack-o-lanterns are lit.
Saturday runs until 8 p.m., so a good plan is to arrive mid-afternoon and stay through dusk.
Sunday is a shorter, evening-only affair, from 4 to 8 p.m.
The lit jack-o-lantern display is the main event, and there's a youth carving contest too.
Kids are encouraged to come in costume, which makes Sunday a nice pick if you're bringing grandkids or the neighbors' little ones.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for ages 5 to 15.
Children 4 and under get in free.
Each ticket is good for one day, so plan on two if you want both the Saturday carving and the Sunday glow.
Tickets are sold through the Tile Works.
Proceeds benefit the BC Cares Educational Foundation, so your evening out also supports a local cause.
A practical note: October evenings are getting chilly, so bring a warm jacket if you're staying for the glow.
The Tile Works is at 130 E. Swamp Rd., right next to Fonthill Castle.
Saturday is a busy day all over town, with the costume parade in the morning and plenty happening downtown, so give yourself a little extra time to park.
If you've never seen the Tile Works lit up with jack-o-lanterns, this is the weekend to go.
It's a little bit spooky, a little bit artsy, and very Doylestown. |
