Rice's Market in Solebury Township will close after its final market day on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2026.
The market began in 1860 as A.L. Rice's agricultural market and grew into one of the region's best-known flea markets.
The owners cited a changing market and economy, and the number of small vendors has declined in recent years.
For many local families, early mornings at Rice's are a tradition.
The market remains open on Tuesdays and Saturdays, plus Black Friday, through the end of the year, leaving about ten more weeks to visit. Read More... |

Doylestown Insider: The Mercer Mile Is Free to Walk Anytime Most locals know about the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle as ticketed attractions, but fewer realize that the exterior grounds and walking path connecting the two — often called the Mercer Mile — are open to the public at no charge. You can stroll past the castle walls, take in the wild architectural drama of Henry Mercer's concrete creations, and enjoy the surrounding landscape without buying a single ticket. It makes for an unusual and genuinely striking afternoon walk that most Doylestown residents have never thought to take on its own terms, independent of a museum visit. Next time you have a spare hour, park on Pine Street and simply walk it. You'll feel like you've discovered a hidden corner of Europe tucked inside Bucks County. |
