A Rocky Book Launch Party Comes to Doylestown Tuesday Night |
Mike Sielski's Going the Distance celebrates Stallone, Philly and the making of a film legend |

Cue the trumpets.
The Doylestown Bookshop is throwing "Going the Distance: The Ultimate Rocky Launch Party" on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 p.m.
It celebrates Mike Sielski's new book, Going the Distance, about Sylvester Stallone, Philadelphia and the making of Rocky.
Sielski is one of Philadelphia's best-known sports columnists, so expect plenty of Philly stories along with the movie history.
If you've ever run up the Art Museum steps with your arms in the air, or know someone who has, this one's for you.
It's billed as a party, not a lecture.
Tickets are sold through Eventbrite, and book events like this often have limited space, so reserve yours early.
The bookshop is at 16 S. Main St.
Can't make Tuesday? Sielski comes back to the bookshop Saturday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m., with longtime Philly sports voice Ray Didinger.
Either way, it would make a great early holiday gift for the sports fan in your life. |

Already grabbed my ticket. Been a Rocky fan since I was a kid.
16 S Main St is easy parking on a Tuesday night usually. Good spot for this.
I grew up watching Rocky on repeat. Need this book.
Good reminder to buy tickets early. Last bookshop event I tried to get into was sold out.
The November 21st date works better for me. Bonus that Ray Didinger will be there.
Stallone and Philly history in one book? Sign me up.
Not usually a book event person but this sounds more like a fun night out.
Interested to get this book too. Grew up watching Rocky with my brothers every weekend.
Doylestown Bookshop always puts on solid events. This one sounds like a blast.
Might have to take the train down for the November 21st one. Didinger and Sielski together is a lot of talent in one room.
Sielski knows Philly sports like nobody else. This book is going to be really good.
Doylestown Bookshop always puts on a good event. Been to a few there.
Ray Didinger on the 21st is a huge draw. That one might sell out fast.
Agreed, and that's exactly why we flagged that space is limited, the Nov. 21st event with Ray Didinger is a special pairing worth grabbing tickets for early.
Mike Sielski is a great writer. Really looking forward to this one.
Getting this for my husband for Christmas. He will love it.
Love that the bookshop does stuff like this. Good for them.
I have definitely run up those Art Museum steps with my arms in the air. No shame.
Good to know its a party and not just someone reading from a book the whole time.
Rocky is the best Philly movie ever made. No debate.
My dad ran up those Art Museum steps on a trip to Philly years ago. He still talks about it. Getting him this book for Christmas.
Mike Sielski is great. Read him all the time in the Inquirer.
PattiMooreHis Eagles coverage during the Super Bowl run was must-read stuff. Really glad he wrote this book.
Ray Didinger on the 21st is a huge deal. That man knows Philly sports better than anyone.
Already got my ticket for the 10th. Can't wait.
