Apple Festival Weekend Brings Pie, Music and Fritters Near Doylestown |
Peddler's Village throws its big fall party Saturday and Sunday, with free admission and parking |

If you want one big, classic fall outing this season, this is the weekend.
The Apple Festival takes over Peddler's Village in Lahaska on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7 and 8, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.
Admission and parking are free, and the festival goes on rain or shine.
Expect live music on several stages around the Village, plus strolling performers including a stilt walker, jugglers and a caricature artist.
The pie-eating contest starts at 2 p.m. both days, and it's always worth wandering over to watch.
The food is a big part of the fun.
Look for apple fritters, lobster, barbecue and pizza, and you can take home a bag or even a bushel of fresh apples for baking.
For the kids and grandkids, there's gem mining, face painting, sand art, a petting zoo and lawn games.
Grown-ups can try axe throwing, if that's your idea of a fall afternoon.
Activities and food are pay-as-you-go, and some vendors take cash only, so stop at the ATM on the way.
Parking is the one thing to plan around.
Organizers expect the lots to fill, so arrive early, carpool, or take a rideshare.
You can also buy VIP parking in advance, but sales close at 2 p.m. the day before, or sooner if it sells out.
Saturday looks like the better day weather-wise, with clouds and sun and a high near 60.
The Village shops stay open until 8 p.m. on Saturday, so you can browse after the festival winds down.
Peddler's Village is at 2400 Street Rd., an easy drive up Route 202 from downtown Doylestown. |

Going Saturday for sure. That weather sounds perfect.
Apple festival!!
Route 202 can back up pretty bad on a weekend so just leave extra time if you're coming from down Doylestown way.
My daughter is obsessed with face painting so this is basically a mandatory trip for us. See you all there.
Peddler's Village is always a good time but the crowds on a festival weekend can get intense. Worth it though.
The parking situation there is no joke. Last time we circled for 20 minutes. Definitely carpooling this year.
Axe throwing is kind of a weird activity for a fall festival but honestly kind of love that they added it.
Saturday weather near 60 with some sun sounds perfect for this. Fingers crossed the forecast holds.
Lobster at an apple festival? Ok I guess that works. I'll stick with the barbecue personally.
Rick S.Ha, I thought the same thing but honestly lobster rolls at fall festivals are kind of a thing now around here. Still going straight for the fritters though.
Good heads up on the cash only vendors. Got caught off guard by that last year and had to run around looking for the ATM.
Really glad the reminder is useful, the article flags it for exactly that reason, so stop at the ATM on the way in and you'll be all set.
The pie eating contest at 2pm is hilarious to watch. Went just to see that last time and ended up staying for hours.
Took my grandkids last year for the gem mining and they still talk about it. Definitely doing it again this weekend.
marie_doylestownMy daughter is still wearing the bracelet she made from the gems she found two years ago. Those kids really get into it.
Free admission and free parking? In this economy? Genuinely surprised.
Tom BuckleyRight? I keep waiting for them to add a ticket fee or something. Free parking alone is kind of unbelievable for a festival this size.
It really is a rare find, free admission and free parking are part of what makes this one of the season's best no-brainer outings.
We go every single year and the apple fritters alone are worth the trip. Already planning to get there early Saturday before the lots fill up.
